I am deep into brain studies and the newest discoveries and technologies while I am trying to figure out the best way to help my two boys and myself with our neurological challenges. I knew that the brain is the key to everything, but it is only within the last 5 to 10 years that Science is beginning to make huge strides in this area. When I was a psychology major in 1993 a lot of these studies were not even being talked about. But here we are over 20 years ago and so much has leapt forward. Can’t wait to see what is coming!

Fresh start 2018
Well I made it through the highs and lows of 2017 and I am onto a new adventure of 2018. Lots of changes happening and lots of learning. I have new and better understanding of my own challenges with growing up with undiagnosed ADHD. And that is really helping me with my sons Adhd. Dealing with distractions has always been rough. The slightest thing or movement, like a butterfly, could distract me from a conversation I was having with the person. I am seeing the same distractions in my son. He can be in the middle of telling me about his day, and a bug can call across the counter and he is instantly transfixed on the bug, completely forgetting about the conversation. And my other son, has some of the same challenges. But this is more directly related to his amazing imagination. He can be in the middle of working on homework and see one of his action figures on the shelf and start telling me all about his powers. Everything seems to be a distraction from something that is not a highly preferred activity. And I cannot blame them. Everything is distracting to me too. The challenges of ADHD never end!
I have Multiple Sclerosis and ADHD, which is a very challenging combination- a go-go-go brain and a no-no-no body. Add to that I am the mother of two elementary age boys who both have ADHD, and the older one has the additional challenges of Aspbergers. I am starting this blog to let others know that these multiple challenges can be conquered with love and laughter. So check back in to read about the latest of our adventures. Thanks, Nikki
October 2018-Well now I have been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. Let’s just add that to you to my list of challenges. I guess that dealing with two boys with ADHD, and one with autism, I am S, the challenges of being a wife and a mother have all added to this new diagnosis. Adrenal fatigue seems to be The norm in this world right now. It seems that especially mothers, stay at home and working outside the home, seem to have a high degree of adrenal fatigue and it is probably under diagnosed. Most doctors don’t even know about adrenal fatigue. And if they do they just do a regular blood test to check for cortisol levels. I started going to an integrative health Doctor Who was the one who diagnosed this with a saliva test. I guess that it has everything to do with living in a constant State of fight or flight stress. And Lord knows that mothers definitely deal with stress.

So I had this crazy idea this morning when I woke up (after 2 cups of coffee) that I wanted to start a blog about my crazy awesome life that I am living.
